graphite bx estate tzd

Post by Cromptons »

I bought this car off Nick (in for sale section) for a massive £300.

The end intention is is to use it (and a peugeot 305 estate) for a mates euro trip next year.

I already own a Citroen zx hatch 1.9td engine giving roughly 180-200hp ( big turbo, heavily modded fuel pump, rebuilt engine etc etc etc), and a black zx 16v and just acquired a xm 2.1.

The bx so far has had

heavy internal clean
2 front spheres and accumulator (made an amazing difference!)
New long drive shaft (yet to fit)
near side drop link
engines had a slight tune but clutch is totally knackered

Other bits and pieces what I can't remember. but so far quite impressed with the bx (my first one to own/drive).

Jobs to do
change rear spheres
clutch
leak on pressure regulator (looks like the end oppo the accumulator?)
poss engine change to a 1.9

Unique bx parts i need: (expect this list to grow)!
head rest is missing from drivers seat, which has for some reason been swapped onto passenger side (whole seat)
possibly a tailgate as lock unit has been smashed from plastic support

Although it might be tricky, check your droplinks are the same length. There is quite a bit of variation and some members have reported cars steering to one side because of differing lengths. My last pair were 7-8mm shorter than the ones they replaced.

Good luck with the car.

Welcome along James, that's quite an interesting collection you've built up, how's the ZX16V going?

Update!

It performed very well on trip in May to italy and back.

Now it's been treated to a xud9 engine with a 2052V turbo

Adrian, hello

Old engine donated a lot of its ancillaries to the current engine, also hg was on its way (still perfectly drive able). (If anyone wants any bits and an unopened hg then shout)

The only reason I dropped a 1.9 in as you can't get mls gaskets for the xud7

Keeping power sencible 15/16 psi should do around 140hp, but with it being a vnt turbo be very responsive and help with having the hdi gearbox.

Having a few issues
Clutch slipping, need to convert to a pull type and fit a paddle clutch
Heater matrix on way
Tick time down to about 8 secs ( been like it a while) but after fitting new engine went up to about 50 secs, but now back again to 8ish

+ plenty of small niggles!

You get plenty of niggles with a BX, just so you don't get complacent!!

If you mean hydraulic system tick time, most likely, the accumulator sphere needs changing. Maybe the others, if you don't know when they were done?, although they affect the ride quality more.
