BX towbar
Does anyone have a tow bar to fit the bx hatch? Thinking of fitting one so I can use my towbar mounted rack. I'm in Bristol.

Re: BX towbar
I've got one somewhere. The edge of one of the huge mounts got nicked with a grinder, so I've never sold it as a bar assembly for towing, but for a bike rack it'd be fine.

Ok, is it possible to have a picture? How much do you want for it?

Yes, but I'm away in Guernsey until the 11th April so I won't be able to do anything until then.

Re: BX towbar
Ok cheers. Are the tow bars the same on the hatch and the estate? And would any drilling be needed to fit the tow bar?

Re: BX towbar
Not sure if you'd need to drill or not, but at most it's four holes in an easy-to-reach area. Not sure if the estate is difference, this one came off a hatch.

Re: BX towbar
Estate is nominally 150mm longer as car than hatch.... ie 2400mm as opposed to 2250mm.
I have a 'genuine' towbar' and it is 4 bolts (I think) - two big ones where it goes to the chassis rails each side forward of the spare wheel and 2 just up alongside the back of the bumper, to each side. It is worth getting a timber 'wedge' to hold the jaw a bit open until the bolts align at the front end. Will save a lot of hassle jiggling into position.
The 'original' wiring loom assembly is an easy plug in to the rear light connector n/s so see if you can find one of those too.
Not all towbars on BX are the same at all, though likely to have similar mount points. Mine is two 45/50mm tubes running forward and bent around the spare to a vertical plate which holds tow hitch. It may be a Witter, maybe not, whatever the factory decided to use.

Re: BX towbar
I have one for a hatch for sale, looks quite new (well, it has a shiny ball - ooh matron), and I'm in Bristol. I don't think it has any fancy electrics though - looks like it was bodged into the existing loom. If that floats your boat then PM me
