Wanted: Some sound advice

Thanks to some expeditious field work by Phil Boxall at today's super X-Rally my BX now has a working radio and speakers in the front that don't sound like gazoos...

Unfortunately the rear pillar speakers have revealed themselves to be utterly knackered too so what I need are some recommendations as to the best new replacements. I'm not sure of the size but they are hardly going to be brilliant but almost anything would be better than what're there now... Any ideas?

Wouldn't bother with rears. Sound is best coming from the front IMO. Maybe a compact sub to back up the two at the front.

Yes it does need bass... I'll just remove the rears... Where would the compact sub be best located? I'd hope Phil B could sort wiring - as I have no idea! Lol

Boot is the obvious place but its a pain if you frequently fold down seats. Something might fit under the passenger seat.

About 8 years ago i looked into getting some replacment speakers, but they are some weird size which is no longer made, so i wouldn't bother, they're too small to be any good. The only way to get a decent sound is to fit some 6x9's into the rear parcel shelf, it transforms the sound

But i appreciate if you don't want to fit them as they take a bit of room out of the boot & you have to unclip them evertime you want to take the pacel shelf out etc....
