Just a hunch, but why do I feel slightly suspicious about it? No photos of inside the boot or under the bonnet, or even the car from the front. Including the current owner it has actually had three owners. That said it would be nice if it is genuinely as good as it appears - anyone seen it?

As,like Deltic, one of the owners of the 12 left I will watch this with interest. It looks pretty good to me, loads of mechanical work done.
I am not keen on the Mk1 GTi's flow meter injection system though.
The Joy of BX with just one Citroën BX to my name now. Will I sing Bye Bye to my GTI or will it be Till death us do part.

I'd be suspicious of the fact the fusebox is open....

Not sure where the advertiser's figure of 12 has come from as thankfully there are a few more GTis left than that. As of Q3 2016 How Many Left, https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/family/citroen_bx, lists the following GTis by their model designation:

BX 19 GTi (1986-1992) 15 registered 41 SORN 56 Total [compared to 8589 in 1994 0.65% survive]

BX 19GTi auto (1988-1989) 0 registered 5 SORN 5 Total [compared to 525 in 1994 0.95% survive]

BX GTi Hurricane (1992-1993) 2 registered 1 SORN 3 Total [compared to 183 in 1994 1.63% survive]

BX19 GTi (1990-1993) 9 registered 14 SORN 23 Total [compared to 2080 in 1994 1.1% survive]

BX19 GTi Auto (1990-1991) 8 registered 3 SORN 11 Total [compared to 452 in 1994 2.43% survive]

BX GTi 4x4 (1990-1992) 5 registered 19 SORN 24 Total [compared to 455 in 1994 5.27% survive]

TOTAL BX GTi (1986-1993) 39 registered 83 SORN 122 Total [compared to 12284 in 1994 0.99% survive]

TOTAL ALL BXs 450 registered 1088 SORN 1538 Total [compared to 162692 in 1994 0.94% survive]

Last statistic petrol and diesel cars are split roughly 40:60 which is no surprise.

Now of course I appreciate that these figures are not 100% accurate and a goodly number of SORNed cars will ultimately only be fit only for scrap as will be many that are currently licenced. That said BX numbers didn't appear to drop at all in 2016, but no reason to be complacent! Interesting to note the greater proportion of later automatics both surviving and licenced including my car which could be a bad thing if we are using them too much!

People like to jump on the 'rare' bit to sell a car, but as you've pointed out, there can be a difference in figures depending on whether DVLA put a space between 'BX' and '19' or not.

Of course one could argue that all BXs are 'rare' now.

One could, and then all Gordon Keeble owners could chuckle and say "That's cute!"

There are rarer by total numbers, but the proportion of surviving cars is somewhat greater at 90%! See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gordon-Keeble

Maybe, but that just shows they were rare to start with too.

I hope it fetches good money, hopefully then it will end up in the hands of a bx lover not someone after a quirky retro daily
