Think 5 -800. Its quite a long and fiddly job with the hydraulics getting in the way.
I do it by supporting the engine and dropping the gearbox out underneath. Entrust it to an expert to get it done and put back together properly.

Seconded
I would search your nearest Citroen specialist preferably with some understanding of bx's, I tho there are no hydraulics to disconnect as such there are ways of doing it correctly without causing damage to any of the plumbing. I've done a few gti's and diesels and find removal of the radiator gives more clearance to move the fdv out the way.
I would certainly avoid Mr Clutch or Clutches r us or any of their counterparts, you need Fuzz Townsend or Edd China on the job proper old school spannerists.

Remove radiator yes, but don't need to drop subframe. Fiddly, horrible job!

Well I never remove the rad, its just extra work and time. I simply drop the FDV down below the rad and forward of the gearbox to keep it out of the way but I do have remove the RH driveshaft seal/speedo drive housing off the gearbox.

You haven't done it on a 16v, have you?

Nah, I haven't Rich. I have done too many on TDs though which can't be the easiest either. I have just sold my last TD so I won't have to do any more.

Miles easier on a TD. In fact, probably easier than an 8v petrol XU too, I'd have thought.

16v - rad out! Access is way, way worse.

8v GTi petrol is easier (than TD) in so far as there is no header tank and associated hosework to get out of the way. I always used to remove the rad following the advice of others but found it just as easy (?) the last two times to leave it in place and avoid all the coolant draining out and rad removal which is always more dificult with my aircon BXs.
But I do not speak, as you do, for 16vs.
But as oranges are not the only fruit 16Vs are not the only BXs.
