I guess many of you have seen this for sale. I was sorely tempted, buoyed by successful rescue of a Volvo 480 of a similar age and time in garage but with non-siezed engine (Although it then blew its core plugs and had to come out anyway!).

I was quite tempted but feel it has now gone above what I'm willing to pay for something that would need such recommisionning.? I was hoping to pay £150 and transport costs. While writing it's cracked £250 which I would only pay if it was very local to me.
?
I did message the guy and he was nice and friendly. ?

He said:
It’s a TU engine. I beilieve it’s a 4 speed manual
90kish miles,it drove into the garage 27 years ago!,
Iv haven’t saw no extensive rust on the body.?
?
?And yes his dad had give up driving at the time and never got it back out. Sorry for the 2 messages I couldn’t remember all the questions! If you could put it in your group that would be great!!
??

last taxed in 2002, so 17 years, even so it will need a good check over but could make a nice cheap runner.

TU engine is easy to work on, but watch for head gaskets which may have a bearing on why its seized? As you know engines the same as lots of other PSA stuff of that age.

It will be a 5 speed box at that age.

I was disappointed to see Tim's MOT report which would mean it was on the road, and ageing, for 14 years, not 4.

If has been garaged since 4 years old its high mileage but would have been less exposed to the elements.

Lets hope who buys it gets it road worthy soon

I'd have grabbed it, if the value didn't go silly. Did well with that one, though on the face of it, it'll be a decent example, once sorted.

Having the spoiler put me off a bit, though. You can't remove those without leaving a mark

I'm one of the few that doesn't like the up and over rear spoiler (aerofoil?), quite a few "cooking" bxs had them added back in the day, and I think it spoils the lines but that's just me!

Much prefer the 16v/hurricane p2 type but I think the small rubber lip ala GT is the best.

I put a bid on it but it went too expensive for what is essentially unknown condition rust wise

I don't really like the hoop spoiler, either.
