As mentioned, I finished the GT reassembly on Tuesday evening meaning I could use it to commute on Wednesday and mooch around here and there since. It's great to be back in a proper Citroen! But I do have some niggles to sort out.
First though , getting the dash and trim all back together was very fiddly and took a significant amount of time! Not helped that the loom and wires had been so disturbed, they seem to just 'sit' where they are rather than be fixed in place, the trim kind of holds the loom where it should be, aming reassembly more fiddly. Not sure if this is how it's supposed to be, but I checked my dissasembly photos and it looks to be the case.
Steering column dropped and dash ready to go in place. I found it easiest to sit on the passenger seat with the dash on my lap to more easily put it in place.
You'll notice the drivers side vent piece is in place here, it goes through the steering column support metalwork so much easier to put this in place first, then pop the dash on top. The passenger side vent pipework I left attached to the dash, this can just be manouvered onto the HVAC from below.
Dash in place, once the HVAC ducts are aligned in just slots into place and can be secured by the two bolts that go into the scutle area, properly fixing it in place.
New 2" speakers installed, i'm thinking of an anti-vibration seat to use betwqeen these and the dash plastic as they vibrate against something when the bass is turned up. I;m also tyoing with making an enclosure for them, so the sound is projected out into the car and no lost inside the dash. The speaker in the bass box underneath the dash sounded significantly better (both bass and clarity) once sealed inside the bass box, so hoepfully the same principle applies here. These speakers are really very good for just 2".
The TRS HVAC uses further ducting for the both the footwell vent positions, on the HVAC output there is just an opening the same as the side dash vents. However in the non-a/c HVAC, these footwell vents have an angled semi obstruction to push air downwards to the footwell without the need to ducting. I was hurried, so I left the GT lower trim panels as they are but obviosuly footwell heating is now not very good... So I will likely swap the TRS footwell ducts onto the GT lower panels - this will need flipping over so it facxes the correct way and some mofifications to fit, especially with all the wiring in place under the drivers GT lower panel.
Top - TRS passenger lower dash trim (LHD car so passengers are on the right hand side)
Bottom - GT passenger lower dash trim (RHD car, so left hand side inside)
Subwoofer wiring ready to go, i've ordered two Infinity Basslink mini's, these are compact at around 29cm by 20cm and should fit just right - I measured the BX underseat area as 30cm wide and for it to be properly tucked underneath, no more than 20cm deep. These should arrive Tuesday, i'm working Wednesday night so hope to have time to fit them Weds morning. Exciting!
The system does need some bass for balance, the three current front speakers have great upper and some mid range sound and the clarity does suffer when the bass is turned up - although theyt handle it well and certainly don't show any distortion etc.

30cm wide (measured again to confirm, this was a poor measurement attempt!)
Ideally 20cm deep
And there we have it! All back together, a pretty full on day of work but very satisfying. I replaced a load of instruments panel bulbs so now have full illumination, much better. Although the head unit doesn;t seem to dim on the rheostat any more, it did on Wednesday but not yesterday - I suspect a loose connection, my electrical skills aren't the best.
Syblings reunited! Although these are both hydraulic Citroens, the difference really isd chalk and cheese. The C6 is everything I want a hydraulic Citroen to be, but loses some of it's soul in all that extra refinement. I really think a smaller turbocharged petrol would very much suit the C6, a smooth and refined 2.0 turbo with around/over 180bhp would be amazing I think, especially with minimum lag - you can always hear the DW12 inside the C6 and 4 cylinder diesels aren't the nicesat on the ears!
