double d cups

Post by charlie »

i thought that might get your attention

have tapped into bx bandits large tool chest and even larger bx knowledge and generosity, one cool dude that bloke, and just replaced among other things the lower arm suspension bushes.

thing is, on the inner bush, the larger one with the flange, theres two Ds cut out either side of the outer rubber bit, and these match up to hollows/moulded out areas that run the complete length of the inner bush.

has anyone come across this before, what are they for and do they have to be lined up with anything,

Yes they do line up, but I am not certain without looking it up, they need to be fitted a particular way.

The really old BX Haynes manual covers this I think.
They think it's all over, it is now!

I have some similar bushes which I must fit one day. Like you I was going to look at what came out to decide how they are fitted.

I suppose it makes sense. The only load on the arm is an in/out load - the weight is taken on the strut. The 'D' is probably there for a purpose as it is probably cheaper to make it solid - so as the loading is horizontal they should go that way.
