Re: GTI or TZI or TZS
The reason I ask is, there is a BX on ebay at the moment that is listed as a GTI and is badged as so. However I put the cars registration number into my insurance website and it gives me the option of selecting it as a TZI or a TZS no sign of a GTI. Then someone on the forum commented that it had TZI wheel trims. The brochures that I have show the TZD Turbo and GTI 8v both having deep section lookalike wheel trims with the four set of three holes round the outside and a circle in the middle.

It's an 8v GTi with TZS/TZi trims: there's a thread on it somewhere. Not sure why you're insurance company have it listed as TZS/TZi. Ideas anyone?
Here's the thread . . .

Max is a sound bloke, so I wouldn't worry in that respect. I'd be confident that it's as described.

Re: GTI or TZI or TZS
Morning!
The TZI and TZS are basically the same car trim wise but one is a a "S" is carburettor fed and a "I" obviously is fuel injected, most TZI models had catalytic converters and were automatics so more designed as a cruiser than outright performance.
A GTi and a TZI are mechanically similar but trim wise quite different, the TZI has a grey interior, dependent on age could have had either the standard grey tweed or Zenith cloth.
Put a TZS and GTi side by side and the differences are apparent, two tone bumpers and no baby walker spoiler (hooray), different wheel trims no black trim panel between the rear lamps.

Re: GTI or TZI or TZS
The car does indeed look gorgeous. I have no doubt it is as described. I have bid : D. I was just slightly confused as to why Aviva my insurance company think its a TZI or a TZS. TZI I believe only had 107bhp I believe and the GTI had 125bhp. Strangling effect of the catalyser I suppose? Thanks.

Re: GTI or TZI or TZS
Nope a TZS is 107bhp as its 1.9 CARB fed, the 19TZI (injection) is 122bhp which is only 3 down on the GTi which is down to the cat and that the ECU's are different and it runs leaner to meet the emissions I imagine.

Re: GTI or TZI or TZS
Lets not forget that Trim levels also can be differant due to limited edition modelling. My TZS has the smother velvety zenith clith yet the other TZS has the standard Gray tweed similer to the TRS I own. One other thing to point out though is the interior of mine was the same grey tweed because the interior has been replaced with the zenith tweed that did come out from another TZS that also had a steel bonnet.
Trims can vary is what I am saying either fitted from new or like we do here improved over time.

Re: GTI or TZI or TZS
btw, that looks an amazing vehicle and a full history that is even more amazing! Worth contacting the owner and asking to see the registration documents if you have concerned over actual model type. A skill people seem to have lost in this internet age.
