BX TZD Break for sale - decent winter tyres but non-runner

Post by Jmcc »

My BX Break broke too many times and I am going to have to give up on her :(

Basically, the hydraulic pipe from the pump to the distributor thing failed twice over the summer. I sourced a genuine replacement but failed to manage to get it fitted and in the process have ended up with the car in a few pieces (a friend decided to help out whne I was away on business, took a load of stuff off and then gave up).

Engine was good and strong
Rear exhaust section fell off so needs replacing
Interior nice (black with red pinstripes) though drivers seat saggy
o/s/f wing dented
Saggy rear end when parked up

Has 4 almost new Goodyear Ultragrip winter tyres fitted.

MoT expired, tax out tomorrow so will be SORNed

Is currently in my works car park so no pressure to move it for the moment, though would like to see her gone sooner rather than later.

I would like to get a couple of hundred notes for her, the tyres are worth that alone!

Or I could break my broken break I suppose... :D

Will pop some pics up later if anyone's interested.

Jmcc wrote:Hello all,

Am picking up my first BX tonight - 17TZD Turbo Diesel Estate in red (you might have seen it finish on e-bay last night). Slightly nervous at the moment as the reputation for problems is slightly daunting, though coming from a history of Fiats and BL cars I am hoping it won't be too much of a shock.

Will probably be on this forum a fair bit trying to work things out and get all the little bits sorted so hope to also be able to contribute a little if there are things I can help with.

FYI: I am a diesel development engineer at Ricardo in Shoreham. Also drive a 1964 VW camper. Never owned a diesel car before, despite working on diesel development for 11 years!

Anyway, hello everyone, will be seeing you around!

James
Hopefully James will add more photo's and confirm the vehicle location ?

Yep, that's the one and she is in Shoreham (near Brighton).

Tim: I am sure it should be an "easy" fix - genuine pipe half fitted but couldn't get pump end in and my friend offered help (professional mechanic) but after two hours he got cheesed off with it. Now MoT and tax are out and so I'm looking at prob £300 or more to get it on road again which I can't really justify.

It is too good to break, but is anyone willing to take her off my hands and get her going again? :)

It doesn't need any parts - it needs assembling! There is even a fresh 5litre can of LHM and half a tank of diesel in there...

OK, I am moving jobs so will lose the parking space at Christmas. If anyone wants to take this car on please let me know, I would like £150 for the whole thing, including winter tyres, 5 litres of LHM, parts to make it go and half a tank of diesel.

As has been said, needs the pipe from the pump to the flow divider fitting, bits taken off putting back on and then it should work. No MoT and currently SORN'd.

The winter tyres are probably worth more than £150 if I put them on the bay...

I am going to Germany on Sunday night but can arrange for someone to give access to the car if required. Will be back on the 12th.
