1st 'Roadtrip' of 2013, in my BX Meteor Diesel....

I drove to Whitechapel, in London, which included some 'rush-hour', (in reality, more stop-start!), driving. We set off from Hythe in the New Forest, Hampshire, at approx 2.15pm, and arrived in Whitechapel at 5.20pm, where I had a hospital appointment, then we returned home via a very nice pub in Bracknell, 'The Golden Retriever' (- thoroughly recommended!), we arrived back home at approximately 11.00pm, my BX ran faultlessly, with its 'new' 30,000mile gearbox munching up the 184miles we travelled, fuelled partly on 15ltrs Tesco's Diesel, partly on 15 ltrs of filtered Waste Veg Oil, (-thinned a little with 5 Ltrs of old, filtered white spirit), roughly working out the mpg figures seems to equate to the equivalent of 90+ mpg, since the WVO and white spirit were free of charge. BX ran smoothly as ever, no noticeable smoke at all from exhaust, suspension soaking up the nasty M3 bumps, (recent replacement of front-rear return pipe),... All in all a satisfying run,... Should manage pretty much any distance I decide to take it now, I think! - Wifey, Nikki enjoyed the lovely smooth ride too, having not travelled in a BX further than a couple of miles or so.... )
I wish I'd taken some photos now! /, next time, maybe....

Your mileage per galon figures do not add up I am afraid.

184 miles on 15 diesel+15 veg oil + 5 white spirit = 90= MPG???????

35 litres 184 miles??? thats 5.2 miles per litre = 24 mpg.

On the standard fuel over here on the open twisty hilly roads we drive we get 11 mpl 50 mpg! Check those maths though because it sounds a little heavu on fuel to me.

I was referring to 'paid for' mpg,....184miles on 15 ltrs of diesel, (probably more like 11 or 12 ltrs in reality, as there was still fuel left when I got home, -enough for my journey to work and back today, -30miles, so if I add today's mileage of 30, to yesterday's 184, I get 214 miles to
11 ltrs of 'paid for' fuel which gives a theoretical figure of around 97 mpg.... But since my fuel was half cost-free, if I half the mpg figure, my 'actual' mpg is around 48-49 mpg, not too bad for a 170,000 odd miles and 20 or so years old car, which still keeps up with most other cars on the motorways....
The point I'm making is the BX is such a satisfyingly cheap car to own and run!....
