Poor bloke, looks like all the hard work has been done, not that many 8V around now and that as Kevan says could be a easy mend if youre handy with bodywork as all the parts are provided.

Well Scrap value is about £150 so I hope if hes realistic its not alot more than that, he wont make much breaking it as theres not many GTi 8vs around and the engine and box arent coveted like the Mi16.

How clumsy to crash it on its maiden voyage Does look really nice & well worth saving considering how much work has already gone into it, seems to have quite a few bids already, but reserve not met

While it could be argued that it's worth a bit more than scrap value, I suspect the seller may have set the reserve too high due to dreams of getting his money back!

The GT was accident damaged when I got her, sounds like a similar accident with similar damage, although the slam panel wasnt touched on the GT but the headlamp panel was rather bent and had to be straightened.

Its a damaged petrol bx with hardly MOT, yes a nice example could be made of it but its value saldy is much more than a few hubdrew quid.

i am going to view this car sat afternoon, have spoke with the owner and sounds like he has put a shed load of money into this car of late, he currently drives a bx16. sounds like a decent chap too.

That does look in fantastic condition I too would be really upset if that happened it looks like he has done a very good job, prior to the accident

yes i will be keeping tabs on it, obviously i have my own cash limit, i had a long chat with the owner and a good look over it. description is pretty accurate, it does req a fair amount of work around the front end esp the o/s/f chassis section, i suspect there may be an idling issue (hunting) and also an overheating prob? base of c pillars not great and clutch biting high, but overall a nice project.
