i won the damaged gti (AAE) on ebay for £200, quite pleased with that result. i viewed it on saturday as its only half hour away from me, it really is a very clean car with immaculate interior, the only rust i could find was the c pillar bases starting to go but not too bad, inner wings very good, boot floor/hanger solid, sills solid, a pillars solid hinge area solid, etc etc,sunroof frame untouched,4 like new wheeltrims, suspension A1 inc new spheres all round, paintwork very good and not too badly faded for ven red (I believe its been garaged most of its life), cant forsee the welding causing too many probs, maybe a few engine running issues to sort, but on the whole i think it will clean up very nicely and make a very tidy original car to boot. the guy even threw in a spare front bumper splitter, 2 new headlamps and an almost new pair of o/e front foglamps, not a bad deal at all.
