turboists
i suspect the turbo on the tzd is on its way out as oil consumption is higher than usual and i can feel some light play on the turbine shaft, i guess sourcing a replacement wont be too hard, but has anyone ever fitted a different turbo onto a tzd and what were the results?

Re: turboists
Good question, especially as the turbo on mine seems to be (ahem) shafted.

Re: turboists
A bud fitted a Pug 405 manifold and turbo on his BX to get a few more ergs. Though as Jaba pointed out to me the same might have been achieved by adjustments. I really would not know. Turbos are still a bit magic to my experience of DIY. However it suggests the scrappy might offer a cheap alternative. There are several in my local if it seems a good idea to grab a few. Can ask Rodney a price if there is interest.

Re: turboists
yes it seems there are some changes that can be made, but this is beyond my mech knowledge, i believe that some adjustments to boost pressure and the waste gate can be made, sourcing a replacement is not a prob from a local scrappy there seem to be plentiful supply of this turbo even new one @ £150. also my tzd is running a lucas pump which i have heard is not great for fuel adjustments etc,

Re: turboists
They either use Garrett or KKK they are interchangeable as long as you get the oil feed and return pipes from the donor engine, anything up to a S2 Xantia or 406 can donate suitable.
I found the Garrett a little easier to tweak
I have some tuning instructions for Bosch and Lucas pumps somewhere too if anyone needs them.

Re: turboists
any info on adjustment for fuel pumps or any tips on changing turbo settings would be good.
