1990 Met. Grey 1.7TZD Turbo Hatchback Spotted F/S (E-Bay)

As title listing G217 XHT spotted F/S on E-bay, this is an early TZD Turbo with being on a 'G' plate however miles are fairly low for an early model, needs some TLC and a set of nice trims to cheer it up !

I have taken a look a the eBay listing this morning, it has some interesting additions to the original listing Tim is this a pal of yours, maybe the " I mustn't call Tim Leech a blender " hero from a couple of weeks ago , fame or maybe infamy for the BX forum via an eBay listing

Oh great another comedian! and I certainly wouldnt call someone that tells people to f*ck off publicly a "hero" although the ad is far too well written to be mr badlyworntoy.

The paint is dreadful "his words not mine", its got black steelies and looks like its not seen a bucket and sponge for a while and he thinks "tatty" is being harsh......hmm

A respray would cost a minimum of £1000 so not worth it unless you're thinking of it as a resto.

Mechanically it could be spot on and is a original unmolested example, but it is my opinion it is tatty....but then again what do I know ...some people like that "lived in look".]

I imagine someone will buy it as a cheap runabout.

Hi all, just so you know where it has gone (Devon) - I just purchased the "tatty bus" - and well, yes it is pretty tatty, but drives beautifully and has loads and loads of history which I like - so having restored 2CVs and Dyanes it is time to learn about hydraulics, electrics and removing rust from a body which does not unbolt from the chassis so you can weld it up! -

Really excited about picking this up tomorrow - I've wanted a TZD Turbo since I was a teenager -

Peeling laquer is a common problem, both my mk1's suffer from it, but if you can live with it on an othersize good car it's not an issue.

Depending on your experience welding, most of it is pretty straight forward, so long as it's not in the rear subframe mounts - I have that fun to come!

Thanks. She is pretty solid underneath, just a few patches that will require treatment - obviously these things invariably get worse as soon as you investigate - but I'm competent with a welder - although it always takes me ages so the finished product looks factory.

Also the A pillars are immaculate and only surface rust on the sills.

Well done, it is tatty but you'll find enough enthusiasm on here to spur you on. A set of alloys or even cheapie wheel trims will make a difference.

Thanks all for the messages, I picked her up today, and have driven 200 miles and gone over with a fine tooth comb. I now have my list of to dos and will get started this week. I am going to read the technical section now and get some help.
