I know this car, and it's really, really nice - in fact I saw it the weekend as it's kept in the same place as my long term storage. 2k may sound a lot for a GTi 8v, but I'd bet it's one of the best you'll find.

I'm quoting from memory here, so it may be wrong, but I believe that it was originally a company car for some high up in Sotherby's, and when it was time for it to be replaced he bought it because he liked it so much.

My 16v was one family owned too! Prior to me and the next 6 owners, obviously.

Thats a well known car, I thought had more miles on it than that though...last time I saw it the bumpers were a bit tired and it had a few dents. Looks like its been tidied up.

The current owner has spent a fair bit on it in the last year or so, mainly on pipework I gather. The bumpers didn't look tired when I saw it so maybe he's had some cosmetics done too.
