Re: G-Vot 16v (pistonheads one)
It does seem valvers can be more troublesome than most BX's!
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

Re: G-Vot 16v (pistonheads one)
Not really Tim, it's just you get good BXs and bad BXs. This one falls into the latter catagory, and really needs someone with a hand on what they're doing to get it back to its best.Tim Leech wrote:It does seem valvers can be more troublesome than most BX's!
The 16v probably gets a harder life than most BXs.

Re: G-Vot 16v (pistonheads one)
Transmission and drive train maybe, but i've never abused the valver the way i did the 19rd. Never had 3.5tonne hanging off the back of the valver, nor a pile of 8x4 sheets inside the boot (with a lot sticking out). Infact the 19rd was worked considerably harder than the valver.Kitch wrote: The 16v probably gets a harder life than most BXs.
Look at Doc or Fenwicks diesels and the abuse they take!
To me it seems the valvers just aren't as well looked after underneath the pretty skin. I've seen plenty of wax oiled BX diesels, but never a wax oiled valver for example.
Shame about the demise of G-VOT, but if its time is up ...

Re: G-Vot 16v (pistonheads one)
I suppose yeah, some of the diesels do have it tougher. It's harder in a different way really, as you don't spank a diesel like you do a 16v (well, I don't anyway - there's no point!) But then the diesels do more labouring work, whereas the 16v gets ragged harder. I know mine doesVanny wrote:Transmission and drive train maybe, but i've never abused the valver the way i did the 19rd. Dont know, i drive all my diesels very hard, cos they go so well, including Sophie. Always have and they seem to take it well.
Never driven the 16 hard at all, dosnt seem right to do so.

Re: G-Vot 16v (pistonheads one)
I suppose it depends on what your definition of going well is. To me, the 19RD was a little bit faster than walking paceMothman wrote:Dont know, i drive all my diesels very hard, cos they go so well, including Sophie. Always have and they seem to take it well.

With the 16v, you can drive with the traffic, or you can go much faster. With the diesels, you can drive with the traffic, or go slightly faster and make a lot of noise
And then you go in a quick car, like an Evo, and realise a BX 16v isn't actually all that quick!
The diesels make all the grunt low down too, so revving them up seems pointless. Agree with the 16 though - a thrashing machine that is not!

Say what you like I'm sticking with my ( VALVER)
as you mentioned the valvers get all the eyes
and can keep up, with the flow of traffic
mine loves it.

Re: G-Vot 16v (pistonheads one)
I would suggest that for the low asking price you buy it and then check it out in case it can be saved.
Are you trying to corner the market in 16V BXs?
