Citroen BX17 TZD Diesel Turbo - 03.10.92
Dear Sirs,
A few months ago a notice stating:"You have been spotted! BX Club" was
attached to the windscreen of my off-the-road Citroen BX.
After some agonising and deliberation I now wish to dispose of my much
appreciated Citroen BX, which was first registered on 03.10.1992, but which
has been off the road under a SORN licence for the past two years, when I
graduated to a Citroen C5 because of increased motorway driving.
It has been an excellent servant and I would hate to see it consigned to
the scrap yard since it has an excellent engine. Its restoration and
renovation is a task beyond my technical expertise but in the hands of an
enthusiastic and technically competent enthusiast I am sure it could again
become a vehicle to be proud of. The bodywork is reasonable but it needs
a new drive belt for the alternator and for the suspension fluid pump.
It would need to be collected from my driveway by a lowloader recovery
trailer.
I will of course supply further details to an interested party, and will
supply a photograph if requested. I very much hope that a Citroen BX
enthusiast will take up the challenge to return this worthy vehicle to
roadworthiness!

Hi Robert and welcome to the forum. Can I suggest that you include which part of the country you are in as it often helps potential buyers. Good luck with finding a new home for your TZD, I've got one too

1991 Kawasaki GPz900r - owned since 2004, awaiting light restoration & a bit of TLC.
2002 Triumph Daytona 955i - bought in 2014 so that I could take Kawasaki off the road to restore - that's my excuse anyway

I think that's my handy work? Do you live at swarkstone?
A red K plate estate which I see regularly albeit have now parked on the drive.
The hydraulic and alternator belt are cheap and easy to fit, even I can do it!

Dear Tim, and others,
Close! I live at Stanton-by-Bridge, immediately opposite the Jubilee Oak, DE73 7HT - and the red Citroen BX you would have easily seen from the 514 between Swarkstone and Melbourne. The house name is Greenwood. My landline is: 01332 864126 (with answerphone) and my mobile is: 07957482227. Shall welcome contact and shall be at home, on and off, over the weekend.

Re: Citroen BX17 TZD Diesel Turbo - 03.10.92
Thank you Robert for your hospitality and tea.
I viewed this car today and can confirm its a very solid and presentable example.
Robert has owned the car since may 1996 and has had it serviced by a well known Citroen specialist and had new pipes fitted a few years ago.
The car started today first time and sounded very sweet indeed!! But needs a new hp belt as the one fitted is shredded and wouldn't grip the hp pulley so the car has no hydraulics but the lhm reservoir is full.
The paint is tired in places (a good buff would help) and there is some surface corrosion to the drivers rear arch but the 1/4 panel is solid with no bubbles.
Inner wings are solid and have never been welded and its the same with door shuts, A pillars, and under the washer bottles.
Interior is tidy and complete, the nsr central door lock has failed, the tyres are aging and could do with being changed, one hubcap is missing.
The battery light is on so I assume the alternator will need looking it.
I haven't driven the car as the pump belt is an issue but I think with some TLC this could make an excellent prospect. The fact it's been Citroen maintained and has had one owner for 20 years is a big plus, and that it's very very solid is another.
Having spoken to Robert and informed him
of BX prices, what's important as it finding a good home that can enjoy and use the car, it has many more miles left in it.
So to summarise a solid well maintained clean example which needs a little love.
I have a few pictures to upload shortly.
