Post by Pcheaven »

Its official. I give up. I can't find any in the UK.
The bay of thieves had some in France.
it was over £100 inc shipping - not for me.

Is it a secret?, where do folks source this from in the UK

does anyone have 5l they would sell to me and ship to Kent ?( I am in devon next week, so could collect from there if local.

Looking grim for access to Total's Hydraurinçage.
I presume it's still in Total France's assortment, but will make enquiries.

The Cit part number was 1135001 (5L bottle), but this no longer listed on Parts.
Citroen Classics and GSF show no stock.

I managed to get the last bottle at any Citroen dealer in Spain back in the autumn.

Oh dear

Is it worth popping to France and bringing some back. Assuming it’s readily available. Wonder what the duty would be

Sadly they are sold out.
Though hope to have some arrive in approx a month
Also, their workshop is booked fully into November!

They respond to emails very promptly though. Excellent.

I wouldn't worry, I've only ever used it once and it gummed up my pinion valve. Individually cleaning the filters and fresh LHM is all I've ever needed.

If the LHM looks clean, and the rise'n'fall of the suspension is without jerks, then a change of fluid is probably all that is needed.
Where H'rincage comes in is where the fluid is dirty. It is LHM + several gentle cleaning solvents, and will remove the black sediments that form on the hydraulic internal surfaces.

Total UK are coming back to me to confirm the supply situation.

With this product now unavailable almost everywhere, I have had this today from Total UK:

" Thank you for your enquiry into the above product. I have done some investigation and this product was withdrawn from the UK market in 2012, as a company we did continue to manufacture this for other markets for several years more, but this was withdrawn globally in 2018. I have been advised by our UK technical manager this was a product used to flush the system before toping up with a LHM fluid, I have been advised the product to use for the flushing now would be the LHM fluid itself. "

The previous Citroen part no. was 1135001 (1 × 5-litre) , but this has now been deleted.

I reckon if you were really keen to flush the system with a thinner fluid you could dilute normal LHM with a bit of diesel or something (make sure not to leave it in for long!).

But ultimately if things are working ok then just a fluid change and clean of filters is all that’s required (and less likely to cause unforeseen problems too!)

I am with Kitch on this. In 30 years and 500000 miles of BXing I have never found the necessity for it. Just renewing the LHM and cleaning filters and reservoir has done the job for me. It is the equivalent of vacuuming down the back of the sofa to me, some people like to do it.

Martin at Pleiades once told me that they used to make their own before the Total product existed. Maybe give them a call and ask if they will divulge the secret formula or maybe news of Hydraurincage’s discontinuation will give them the idea to start selling their own again. They post their pipes and stuff worldwide.

I suspect the addition of diesel is indeed a possibility but I wouldn’t like to guess how much. I would trust what Pleiades say though.

I don’t think LHM is magic, just a mineral oil like MIL-H-5606 or Aeroshell Fluid 41 and that you couple just use a generic flushing oil meant for that sort of system.

All of this sounds a bit to much effort though and you could start with a complete oil replacement, including a damned good bleed at the brake and a filter clean (in petrol).
