There's also a GTi and a 16V on Ebay along with a 14TGE

Rant on. The 16v is also on Car & Classic, but seriously if you want us to buy a car for 12/13 grand, more than two photos would be useful please! Rant off.

There's also a white 16v for sale elsewhere for a similar amount and zero information is given about the car's history apart from the mileage...

I missed the white one, where's that advertised? They must be expecting interested parties to inundated them with enquiries but it would put a lot of people off. For that price I would expect a detailed description with a folder full of photos.

See: https://projectleven.com/inventory/citroen-bx-19/

The usual hyperbole, although not unreasonable being a 16v, but nothing about why that car in particular is so good. Nevertheless it looks good and is very tempting... But no pictures of the engine bay and for that money I'd want to be certain I wasn't buying any rust.

And the red TXi on eBay (listed as TSi) seems to be attracting strong bids for what it is.

That's the one that got rejected by a buyer recently, I think.

Interesting about the white one… After a bit of digging I found this https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/198 ... bx-gti-16v which gives a much more detailed look at grey, Spanish now Irish registered 16v on eBay/Car & Classic when auctioned back in 2022.

Gosh, I hadn't spotted that the auction sale price was €6600! Valvers and Sports do seem to command a premium.

I quite fancy the GT, just seems a bit too salty for it's condition (rusty doors and taped up feature windows) and it's a long way to go to be disappointed

Looks like it has potential and the interior looks pretty good. None of the images really show the rust...

Hmm. There are chancers out there. The cars are now of an age where they are regarded as modern classics but to those who don't know them they are a minefield. Too old to get bits for without a bit of effort and a very difficult car indeed to work on; ( ok, we know them but they really are hard work with lots of dismantling and many a sharp edge. A contemporary Ford is a whole lot easier and a Mercedes much more so.) If I wanted quirky alone, I'd buy a SAAB 900 which comes with prestige so the BX market is tiny and those that ever wanted one got them when they were very cheap. I am sorry for those who get taken in only to find the car doesn't live up to their expectations. It does nothing for the BX's reputation and that is bad for us all. I think (personally) it is too much for a valver which even its best friends would say is a little highly strung and undergeared for a comfortable cruising car for all that is good about it. But what do I know. Someone will buy it and that is why it is up there - to make somebody money. Caveat Emptor.
