You should get out more
Having just returned from a quick trip to kiwiland, we saw quite a few. On our first day we saw 2 (possibly even 3)- at a friends place near Auckland.
We had an express trip around the Nth Island (from Auckland, down around coromandel, Bay of Plenty, East cape, Hawkes bay, Through the Gentle Annie Rd to Taihape, and up SH1 to Auckland) and would have to say that of all Cits seen, the BX is still pretty common - although now seemingly outnumbered by Xantias and C5s. We saw another half a dozen BXs on the road in various areas, and even caught up with a convoy of about 10 Citroens in Paeroa - that had 2 early D's but no BXs.
So they are there... I guess you just need to be in right place to see them.

Err yea get out more? I live On Highway 4 like it goes past my front door
Near Taumaranui.
The only time I have seen one or more is during the ski season when they are magnetically drawn to the Central North Island ski areas.
There are plenty in Auckland I know that from the amount of Trademe adverts just they dont come down to my neck of the woods until winter. In saying this the roads around here are pretty quite anyways.
And the right place is nowhere near where I live
until the Ski Season starts mid June
Just thinking though that my Alpine White BX is going to have a lot of camoflage this winter

Ok yesterday I went south to the City of Wanganui and did I see any BXs? None whats so ever. Saw a total of 3 Citroens C5, Xantia, Saxo which basically is what I see anyways at home.
Although doing a Car Count most I passed being a couple of Trucks, bus, and slower moving cars like 80kph in 100 zone type stuff. The exception being a kamikaze bunch of kids in a Toyota Starlet that discovered the only chance they could get passed me was to pass on Solid Double Lines near Wanganui
irony being is had I tried to prevent them passing it would have taken just a blip of the accelerator. Problem is theses clowns must have ben doing 120 kph plus to catch up and considering the road conditions wet, bendy and slippery they had a death wish.
To be honest the road is hell with 80km of undulating tight corners and 90 minutes later you feel like you have driven for ever. Going into one 35km bend (we have signs to advise us
) I braked from 100kph and locked a wheel briefly.
Anyways the idiots in the Toyota did not get much ahead of me in fact when I reached the city boundaries they were talking to a nice chap in a rather flash looking car with Blue and Red Lights on his roof
The hunt continues for the Kiwi BX drivers.....

Yes I do get out but when you have bugger all cars on the road the odds of spotting a less than common car goes out the window.
I suspect the reason you saw a few is because you were in the Zone aka Tourist Track and Easter weekend. We live on the other side of those Volcanoes you passed heading Up SH1 after you joined from Gentle Annie.
Traffic flow is much stronger that side principly because the Road goes somewhere. Our road basically heads From Wanganui to Hamilton and we are in the middle, and that last 80km to Wanganui is the work out from hell driving which takes about 90 minutes.
Like I said the only time our road goes anywhere is during the ski season when the Northerners head down to our Volcanoe to ski
I am thinking of putting a sign out on the road saying BX drivers welcome to stop and say hello
