Tims Newest BX- 16TXS Auto

Post by tim leech »

Read the story about this car on

http://bxclub.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6458

Now fully road legal and in amazing condition for a 15 year old car which had sat outside for 8 years unused. Clicked over to 24000miles on the way home for the CCC national rally. Complete and original in every detail needing nothing more than a good service and few perishables to get it back on the road.

I've got to say, that car looked superb in the flesh & i really liked that interior, shame its a petrol auto, but apart from that its ace.... well done saving that one from the crusher....

Petrol autos are ok, and so relaxing to drive too which goes so well with the comfort of a BX, and better on fuel on a run that you would think. It averaged a good 40mpg at the weekend.

Thats better than what i got in my tzd, mind i did tank it along some of the way.

Whats a bit frustrating with my car is that it will actually go faster than she can, in other words the car goes into the red on the rev counter & continues going whilst in 5th gear.

Is everyone else's like that as well?

I must admit I had to pull back on the reins a good few times on Sunday!
On the way back up the A1(M), I was cruising along with my foot creeping down more and more, on a nice clear open stretch (North of Doncaster), when I took a glance at the rev counter..........around the 4800 mark! I normally drive in the 2700-3500 region which equates to around 85mph usually. When I looked across to the speedo, I was gobsmacked to see it a good way over the "ton"!
I am continually amazed at the ease with which Monica eats up the miles so smoothly, for a 14 yr old car that has not always been treated well in her life! Apart from a slight clutch judder and a slightly-too-heavy clutch pedal (all to be soon sorted!), she is remarkably quiet for a TD, so much so that it is very easy to find myself well above the speed limit!

When I finally refilled the tank on my way home from work this evening, the figures for the weekend computes to an extremely efficient 52.6 mpg!

I have a feeling thaty Monica and I are going to stay together for a long time to come!

Tim... As you're obviously into the car cleaning malarkey may I point your eyes in this direction...

www.detailedobsession.co.uk

This company was set up recently by a friend of mine and sells products that are superior even to Autoglym and Meguiars. Specially imported from the states, the Poorboys stuff he sells really does work wonders - I can speak from experience. Just a quick wash with Poorboys shampoo makes the Capri so shiney it looks like it's been polished. Might be worth a look! :D

It's the only way to drive!!

I got 39.6mpg from the valver over the whole trip to the national and back, a journey to work in traffic, and a hell for leather flat out emergency rev limiter bouncing trip to my best mates, I beat the second police car by some margin, and I came three times the distance. Not bad I thought..
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...
