Brake Pad wear warning light

Post by hamster »

Changed the front pads on my new xantia today and notice that there are no brake pad wear indicators to warn when the pads are worn out. There are no wires on the car and the pads didn't come with any wires. My old xantia had them on and was the same model (LX).

Why did citroen stop putting these on newer cars? I thought they were a good idea.

You may find the car originally had them but an unfortunate sequence of events may have removed them

One has to be very careful how the sensor wires from the pads to the connectors are routed. Make a mistake and they can get caught up in the disc rotor and tear out, taking a part of the fixed wiring attached to the strut with them..

How do I know?

Its 1999

I did think all xantia had them but the pads didn't ome with new leads which they ususally do so this made me hink they had stopped fitting them.

I'll have a look in the daylight again today but couldn'y see the remains of any wires.

Not they end of the world anyway. Got new pads now so a few thousand miles before I'll need to check them again.
